To find a golf cart's model year, first identify the manufacturer and copy the complete identification label. Club Car uses a model prefix followed by year and production-week digits. Yamaha requires a model-code and serial-range reference. E-Z-GO labels and coding vary by model, so record the serial number and any separate manufacturer code.

Find and record the identification label
| Brand | Where to start | What to record |
|---|---|---|
| Club Car | Passenger cup-holder area or above the pedals; check the manual for your model | Leading letters, four date digits and the complete sequence number |
| E-Z-GO | Steering column or below the driver seat for some pre-2023 models; consult the model manual | Full serial label and any separate manufacturer/date code |
| Yamaha | Use the model-specific manual or dealer to locate the identification label | Three-character model code and the complete serial sequence |
Club Car DS serial number lookup and year decoding
Club Car describes a one- or two-letter model prefix, followed by two year digits and two production-week digits. The remaining sequence identifies the individual vehicle. For example, AA9812-123456 contains year code 98 and production week 12.
Use the official Club Car model-prefix directory to check the model. Its current directory uses the label “Precedent DS” for several DS entries, so do not classify a cart from the word “Precedent” alone. The manufacturer FAQ explains the date-code format.
- AA: DS Electric PowerDrive reference.
- AQ: DS electric family reference, listed as “Precedent DS Electric” in the directory.
- PR: Precedent i2 gasoline FE-350 reference, not an electric prefix.
- PD / PF: Precedent i2l electric / Precedent Villager 4 gasoline references; these should not be treated as generic Onward or Tempo codes.
A model prefix does not establish the voltage of a vehicle that may have been modified. Confirm batteries, powertrain and parts with the vehicle documentation.
EZGO TXT and RXV serial number lookup: label and manufacturer code
Keep the serial number and any manufacturer/date code separate. A rule for one older label format is not a reliable decoder for every TXT, RXV, Marathon or newer cart. Do not infer the model from an estimated year alone.
E-Z-GO's customer-care page describes serial-label locations and provides manufacturer assistance. Send a clear label photo when asking for a model and year check. Our EZGO lookup page explains what information to collect rather than returning an unverified year.
Yamaha golf cart serial number lookup: model codes and ranges
A three-character Yamaha prefix is a model reference, not a complete year decoder. Match the full serial sequence to the correct manufacturer catalog or ask a dealer. The Yamaha PTV parts catalog identifies J0D as a gasoline QuieTech EFI reference and J0E as an electric AC-motor reference.
Other prefixes need their own reference. Do not reuse one prefix's year range or assume the first serial digits always represent a calendar year. See our Yamaha lookup guide for the supported checks.
What if the label is missing or unreadable?
Check purchase paperwork, service records and the model-specific manual. Ask a manufacturer dealer where any additional identification labels may be located. A hood, dashboard or rear seat can have been replaced, so appearance is a clue rather than proof.
Use our model-identification checklist to organize those checks.
Seat-cover measurement guides for Club Car, EZGO and Yamaha
After identifying the cart, check the appropriate seating guide:
- Club Car seat covers: DS and Precedent measurements
- EZGO seat covers: TXT and RXV measurements
- Yamaha seat covers: Drive and Drive2 measurements
Before choosing seat covers or storage covers
Model identification and accessory fit are separate. Measure cushion width, depth, backrest and armrest spacing; measure front and rear seats individually. For a storage cover, check the whole cart's dimensions and any rear-seat or roof changes.
Compare golf cart seat covers and blankets or browse storage covers. Check each product's dimensions rather than treating a serial lookup as a fit guarantee.
